Compass Box The Extinct Blends Quartet 'Metropolis' Limited Edition Blended Scotch Whisky is the third release in the Extinct Blends Quartet series, paying homage to the rich history of blended Scotch in urban centers like Glasgow and Edinburgh. Bottled at 49% ABV, this expression features a core of nutty and biscuity single malt from the Aberlour Distillery, aged in re-charred American oak barrels, complemented by citrusy and vanilla-accented single malt from the Miltonduff Distillery. A blended grain component and a hint of herbal smoke from Bowmore Distillery malt whisky complete the complex recipe. On the nose, vanilla arrives first, followed by a medley of different honeys, fudge, apricot, pineapple, and fresh fig. The palate is rich and very complex, with sultana, apricot, and hints of smoky woodiness, leading to a long and sweet finish with a pleasing weight. This limited edition of 5,910 bottles was released in September 2023.
